Solderable metal coatings of carbon - surfaces

A layer of nickel deposited on the carbon surface by electroless methods is heated at 800 - 1100 degrees C in a non-oxidising atmosphere for 0.5 to 2 hours to ensure good adhesion. A second layer of nickel or copper is then deposited followed by heat treatment at 500 - 700 degrees C to allow diffusion bonding between layers. Suitable method for depositing electrical contacts on graphite.
