<p>The process for the application of vitreous-ceramic glazes to flooring and cladding tiles provides for the provision of a backing having a pink or white paste, which is fired or dried, spreading a layer of slip on the said substrate, spreading a subsequent intermediate layer of vitreous-ceramic glaze by the usual means having a lithium oxide content Li2O of at least 1.5% by weight, spreading a surface layer of vitreous-ceramic glaze by the usual means having a lithium oxide content Li2O at least twice that of at least one intermediate layer, firing in a furnace at a temperature of between 1000 and 1200 degree C, and preferably between 1140 and 1180 degree C for a time expressed in minutes of 4 to 7 times the thickness of the substrate expressed in millimetres, with a firing curve which in its descending (cooling) portion between the maximum temperature and a temperature between 600 and 700 degree C is substantially straight, and a cooling time between the maximum temperature and the temperature between 600 degree C and 700 degree C which is not less than 9 minutes.</p> |
