PURPOSE:To provide the external gel base agent not containing a neutralizing agent causing problems with the agent stability, the skin-irritating property, the carcinogenic property, excellent in the gel viscosity, usage touch or thermal stability, and containing a carboxyvinyl polymer as a gelling agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) 0.05-3wt.%, preferably 0.2-2wt.%, of a carboxyvinyl polymer is compounded with (B) 0.005-2wt.%, preferably 0.05-0.5wt.%, of a carboxymethylchitin as a gelling auxiliary, especially in the case of a chitin liquid 2-95wt.%, preferably 5-70wt.%, of the carboxymethylchitin to obtain the external gel base agent useful as a base material for cosmetics, quasimedicines, medicines. Because of being free from a neutralizing agent, the base agent can solve the above problems caused by the neutralizing agent. Since the component B is compounded, the base agent has a good moisture- retaining action, good extendibility, little tackiness, and excellent touch. Further, since the component B has an antibacterial activity, the compounding amount of an antiseptic agent can be reduced. |
