PURPOSE:To obtain a new oligonucleotide suitable as a material for DNA sensor, molecular element, etc., in order to readily form a monomolecular film. CONSTITUTION:An oligonucleotide of formula I (R is H or thiol-protecting group; E is nucleic acid base; X is S or O; Y is H or OH; (m) is 1-20; (n) is >=8). The compound, for example, is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III in a solvent such as methylene chloride in the presence of diisopropylamine at 20-25 deg.C, reacting the reaction product with a compound of formula V [(KP)m-K is group of formula IV; Support is support medium] in acetonitrile in a DNA automatically synthesizing device to give a compound of formula VI, oxidizing the compound similarly in the DNA automatically synthesizing device, finally hydrolyzing the reaction product and eliminating the resulting substance from the support medium.
