PURPOSE:To enhance gradation of a copied image and to eliminate edge effect without slowing copying speed, by subjecting an exposed image to second charging same in polarity as the first charging which the surface of an electrophotographic receptor underwent in the dark, as the surface is being exposed to a light original image. CONSTITUTION:Corona chargers 11, 13, developing unit 14, transfer charger 15, cleaning roller 16, cleaning blade 17, and destaticizing charger 18 are arranged in succession surrounding photosensitive drum 10. Original O is placed on original platen glass 12A, and its light image is guided through plane mirrors 12C, 12D, 12F, and inmirror lens 12E to an exposing unit. The backside of corona charger 13 is open or a transparent electrode plate is arranged on the openbacked part so as to charge second the exposed area of the photoreceptor at the same time as the exposure. Illumination lamp 12B combined in one body with mirror 12C is moved in the arrow direction at the same speed as the peripheral speed of drum 10, and mirror 12 is moved in parallel at half this speed to expose the photoreceptor, thus permitting a copied image superior in gradation to be obtained. |
