<p>A lock is disclosed which includes a housing having an inside bore, a cylinder selected from a group consisting of interchangeable core cylinders and insert cylinders, the cylinder having an outer contour, the inside bore of the housing being at least as large at any point as the outer contour of the cylinder, and a device for adapting the inside bore of the housing to correspond to the outer contour of the cylinder. Also described is a transmission assembly mounted to the housing and cooperating with the cylinder to impart desired motion to a latch mechanism of the lock. An advantage of the lock is that it may accommodate distinctively different cylinder types with different form, fit and function.</p> |
