A process for producing a wet toner readily without the necessity for ball milling or the like, comprising the granulating step wherein a molten olefinic carboxylic acid or ester resin is put into a liquid aliphatic hydrocarbon and cooled to deposit the resin particles in the presence of a tri- to decamer of a hydroxy carboxylic acid ester by using a charge control agent comprising lecithin or a salt of a dialkyl sulfosuccinate with a transition metal selected from among cobalt, manganese, zirconium, yttrium and nickel. The oligomer of a hydroxy carboxylic acid ester has not only the function of controlling the granulation but also that of dispersing stably the resin particles in an electrical insulating liquid in virtue of the affinity for the particles, and hence the resin particles can be stably dispersed in the toner for long, thus giving a wet toner which does not deteriorate and can form stable colored images.
|
