The blade(6) has a cutting edge(8) and an adjusting recess (25) by which it engages with a stop(26) on the cutter head(1). The blade is thrust outwards by pressure from the head. One at least of the recess faces is ground away, making it larger than the stop engaging in it. This face is pressed against one on the stop, typically by a screw. There can be two or more recesses in the blade, preferably triangular, and the recess faces can be ground away from the same amount as that by which the cutting edge has worn down. ADVANTAGE - Simple regrinding and adjustment.
