The method of attaching housings of electrical appts., e.g. switches, keyboards and plugs to plane mounting surfaces (10) involves using bolts (14,15) and an intermediary carrier plate (12). The plate is first bolted to a mounting surface and the appts. is subsequently attached using screws or rivets. The carrier plate is shaped like a rectangular trough with two flanges (16,18) on the free ends which space the appts. from the mounting surface. The appts. attachment is along these flanges. Instead of screws/rivets, the flanges can incorporate hooks formed by pressing out a section of the flange. ADVANTAGE - Secure fixing with min. assembly time.
