A stage press, which is either a daylight type or a "round press" and is used to process the surface of plastic films (and laminates in particular) has hot and cold platens, between which the films concerned plus single or multiple device are inserted to give the films the surface texture required. The device(s) used consist(s) of textured film, preferably coated with silicone, polypropylene or "Teflon" (R.T.M), metal foil or heat-resistant paper. ADVANTAGE - Produces a multiplicity of design possibilities. It produces a high output rate with a low rejection rate. The set-up eliminates any need for etching e.g. metal plates. It can use papers which are designed for use in calenders and are wood pulp type.
