The storage system consists of two groups of shelves (3) separated by a gangway (2). The spaces between the shelves of each group are divided into compartments which form tunnels which extend from the gangway to the rear of the shelves. A distributor vehicle operates in the gangway and carries smaller vehicles which can travel into the tunnels in order to place goods on the shelves or to remove goods when required. The vehicles and the lifting mechanism of the distributor vehicle are driven by pneumatic motors. The motors are supplied with compressed air from a pressure vessel mounted on the vehicle and each pressure vessel is provided with a charging connection. USE/ADVANTAGE - Storage system with distributor vehicles. Pneumatic motors provide lightweight driving system.
