The wet cleaning device comprises a high pressure spray nozzle (17) spraying water at a pressure in the range from 20 to 200 bar at an angle range of 20 to 90 deg. pref. 45 deg. against the running direction of the material. The water jet can be pref. a flat surface jet with linear contact or a spot jet coating the material through rotation. USE/ADVANTAGE - Effective sterilisation of lengths of packing material without brushes which would wear down and require constant adjustment.
