The valve (1,5) is for a hydraulic auxiliary steering system for motor vehicles. It has a rotary slide, moveable relative to a control bush. Bush and slide have cooperating control openings (25-28), to control a pressure medium flow from a source to a servo motor. The contact surface (17), in which the control openings are in contact, is mainly vertical to the longitudinal axis of control bush (5) and rotary slide (1). A sleeve (2) is connected to the bush. The sleeve surrounds the slide at a distance, and thereby forms a pressure chamber (22), which may be connected to the pump. The control openings (27,28) of the slide are connected to the chamber.
