The interspace is defined by boundary elements consisting of side wall parts or doors (5,5'). They are swivel mounted at the sides on an inner side wall (6) of the cage and movable towards each other. The time restriction on the interspace can be carried out by the pigs. The two side wall parts (5) can be coupled to a swivel connecting rod (9) which is guided sliding through an eyelet like guide member (10). When the doors swivel back straight to the inner wall of the cage the surrounding area is temporarily enlarged for the pigs. USE/ADVANTAGE - Pigs have access to additional dirt area separated from clean lying area but without increasing actual stall area.
