[Also in Division Bl/2] Devices for spraying low volumes of agricultural liquid in the form of coarse particles comprise a reservoir 28, a conduit 29 for delivering liquid to be sprayed from the reservoir to a bore within the spindle 86 defining a path for the liquid which extends into a spray head 100 depending from the spindle, drive means to rotate the spindle and feed means for maintaining a constant pressure on liquid supplied through the conduit. The devices are particularly suitable for spraying aqueous and organic solvent solutions of herbicides, but may also be used for insecticides, fungicides, nemiticides and fertilizers; and may be mounted on an agricultural implement such as a planter 12. It may be mounted pivotally so that when the shoe 19 is lowered the reservoir is raised and/or the spindle is lowered so that material flows to the spray head by siphon action, and when the shoe is raised the flow ceases. Valve means may be incorporated in the conduit 29, which may operate with raising and lowering of the shoe, The constant pressure may be supplied by delivery and venting tubes reaching to the bottom of the closed reservoir. The venting tube may be provided with an air filter, and the delivery tube with liquid collecting filtering means. Air drift of the spray may be reduced by windshields on one or both sides of the spray head. |
