<p>Press of the elastic membrane type 5 incorporating intercommunicating chambers 6 which are full of incompressible liquid designed to prevent surface defects due to shrinkage differences between parts of different thickness, particularly on the visible side of tiles having deep ribs on the reverse, thus obtaining lighter tiles by connecting the said chambers to a regulator for the volume of the liquid 13, 14, 15 which is capable of discharging part of the liquid initially introduced in excess during the pressing process so that the said chambers adopt a greater depth than the ribs 7; the ratio between the maximum and minimum initial thicknesses A, B of the clay mass and the final thicknesses A', B' of the tile remains substantially unchanged; the press has application in ceramic or brickmaking works.</p> |
