<p>The acid is prepd. from beta-naphthol by treatment with NaOH followed by dehydration and carboxylation, all steps being carried out in the presence of diphenyl and/or diphenyl oxide or of an alkyl naphthalene with one or more 1-4 C alkyl gps., or mixtures of these. Dehydration is carried out at 200 - 275 degrees C, pref. 240 - 260 degrees C in about 30 mins.</p> |
