1,267,365. Recovering metals. FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd. June 26, 1969 [July 29, 1968], No.36116/68. Heading C7D. Metal is recovered from slag produced in processes wherein a molten slag layer containing metal is formed above a body of molten metal, by tapping the slag into a container, treating it with a carbide, and collecting the molten metal formed from the slag at the bottom of the container. In the example, slag resulting from the production of ferromanganese was tapped into a ladle and treated with calcium carbide, calcium cyanamide and lime, the resulting molten manganese collecting at the bottom of the ladle. Reference is also made to the recovery of Cr, V, Ti or Zr from slags containing them.
|
