A plastics foam article, e.g. a doll, is moulded in a one-piece mould 11 having an opening 13 from which the article is removed after it has been temporarily compacted by fluid pressure. During the moulding, the opening is plugged and when the article is to be removed the plug is removed or loosened and the mould placed within a pressure chamber 17 and pressure applied via a line 19. The compacted article is removed by a rod 25 which may have one end cast with the article or it may be attached to the plug having means extending into the article. In a modification the mould is located outside the chamber and the mould opening attached to a connector in the chamber base. The article may be of a closed cell structure and may have a skin.</p> |
