Control device for reverse gear of a gearbox with actuating sleeves, including a movement input shaft (1) which carries several drive pinions for the forward gears (3, 4, 5, 6, 7) and one drive pinion for reverse gear (8), a movement output shaft (2) which is parallel to the input shaft (1) which carries several idler pinions (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) permanently meshing with the drive pinions for forward gears, and a set of actuating sleeves (14, 15, 16) which may be moved translationally by sliding shafts (30, 31, 32) so as to engage the various idler pinions (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) with the output shaft (2) to obtain the forward gear ratios, characterised in that the engagement of reverse gear is provided with the aid of a movable transmission pinion for reverse gear (24) secured to an actuator sleeve (16) for engaging a forward gear ratio. <IMAGE>
