PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a decoder/driver and to increase the speed of the decoder/driver by applying a decoding optical signal to all light receiving elements of a selected driver. CONSTITUTION:One of decoder lines DL0-DLn goes to an 'L' level and the other lines go to an 'H' level in response to address input signals A0-An via address buffers B0-Bn. Then the relevant light emitting element LD0 of an optical signal generating circuit LC is lighted, an optical signal is transmitted through an optical transmission line OPT and a decoding optical signal is fed to all light receiving elements DR0-DRn to be selected. Thus, no current flows to drivers not selected, no level conversion circuit is required and the decoder/ driver capable of high speed processing and low power consumption is obtained. |
