[Also in Division C2] A seasoning composition comprises, as active ingredient, 2-furfurylthioinosine-5'-phosphate or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof. Preferred salts are the sodium and calcium salts. The composition may also comprise mono sodium glutamate, the proportion of phosphate to monosodium glutamate preferably being from 1/5000 to 1/10 by weight. The phosphate or salt thereof is preferably added to the food or beverage in an amount of from 0.00005 to 0.01% based on the weight of food or beverage as served. |
