PURPOSE:To enable the braking condition to be recognized in detail for providing a damping force more suitable to the running condition so as to improve the running feeling, by selecting a damping force based on a vehicle speed, an operating physical force and damping force switching curves previously set. CONSTITUTION:A controlling unit consists of a microcomputer 1, an input buffer 4, an input processing circuit 5 and driving circuits 10-13. A vehicle speed sensor 2 generates a pulse signal of a frequency proportional to the vehicle speed. An operating physical force detector 3 generates an analogue voltage signal proportional to the force applied to the brake pedal by a driver's foot. These signals are input to the computer 1 through the input buffer 4 and the input processing circuit 5. Each of the shock absorbers 6-9 has a damping force which is increased or decreased in response to whether the coil conducts electricity or not. Switching of the damping force is primarily a function of a vehicle speed and is carried out based on the comparison of magnitude of the operating physical force F applied to the braking system with the damping force switching curves f1 and f2. |
