<p>PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the color filter having a black matrix with which the process for production is simple and the cost of production can be drastically reduced and which has a good light shielding property and suppresses the increase in film thickness so as to obviate the generation of problems, such as orientation defects. CONSTITUTION:A material prepd. by dispersing black pigments consisting of metal oxides in a metal alkoxide is used as the material to constitute the black matrix 2. Since this material can be applied on a transparent insulating substrate 1 with a simple coating device, such as spinner, the process for production is simple and does not take time and the cost of production is drastically reduced. The black matrix having the sufficient light shielding property is obtd. at the thin film thickness when the material prepd. by dispersing the black pigments consisting of the metal oxides into the metal alkoxide is thermally decomposed and, therefore, such problem as the generation of the orientation defects in oriented films is eliminated.</p> |
