A protective bandage for helically winding about metal pipe-lines to prevent corrosion includes a plastics tape, which under tension deforms both plastically and elastically and is provided with a reinforcing strip on both longitudinal edges of one side of the tape. The tape is wound helically and overlapped and because it is self-adhesive it provides a sealed continuous covering. The reinforcing strips may be of plastics or a plastics coated or impregnated fabric. One broad and one narrow strip or a number of narrow strips may be used. The strips may be recessed into the tape or stand proud to facilitate interlocking of the adjacent helices when wound about the pipe. |
