PURPOSE:To put reflection type panels in stable operation within a constant temperature range, to provide a liquid crystal projector which projects a bright image by increasing light input, and to use various materials richly and improve the display performance by combining the reflection type panels with constant- temperature holding and cooling devices. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of the reflection type liquid crystal planes 41, 42, and 43 equipped with transparent electrodes and reflection electrodes which are arranged on respective substrates and liquid crystal layers which are sandwiched between those electrodes and selectively transmit or scatter incident light made incident through the substrates and transparent electrodes according to whether electric fields are applied by the electrodes, and the constant-temperature holding and cooling devices 71, 72, and 73 which are arranged on the reverse surfaces of the substrates. |
