PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a magnetic field at the central section of a cathode, to keep the state of plasma in a capillary constant and to reduce the noises of a high output from a laser by mounting the spiral-shaped cathode having a counterclockwise section and a clockwise section in the direction of laser beams. CONSTITUTION:A capillary, a cathode and an anode are installed into a package 1, and an output mirror is set up at one end of the package 1 and a total reflecting mirror 6 at the other end of the package. The cathode is formed in a spiral shape, and structure, in which a counterclockwise spiral section 8 and a clockwise spiral section 9 in the direction of laser beams 7 passing through the center of a spiral when currents are made to flow through the cathode are connected in series, is formed. Structure, in which the cathodes having the same two spirals are fitted mutually in parallel in the opposite directions and currents flowing through the two cathodes in the direction of laser beams 7 are made to flow in reverse rotation mutually at all times, is formed. Magnetic fields generated by currents flowing through the cathodes are denied reciprocally, and structure, in which the magnetic fields are not generated effectively, is formed. |
