PURPOSE:To restore data in a short time independently of the scale of a fault by selecting the restoration range of data in accordance with information of the logical structure and the physical structure on a data information file to restore data. CONSTITUTION:This data base system is provided with a data integrity processing mechanism 9 which acquires spare data from a data base 1 to save it for the purpose of providing against a hardware fault or a software fault. Information of the logical structure indicating the logical relations among individual data and the physical arrangement structure of data on a storage medium is stored in a data information file 6 when spare data is saved, and the restoration range of data is selected in accordance with information of the logical structure and the physical structure on the data information file 6 to restore data after a hardware fault or a software fault is recovered. Consequently, the restoration object range is used as a key in accordance with the data information file 6 to attain the correspondence between a magnetic tape 5 and the data base 1 even at the time of the change of the restoration case, and the restoration time is shortened. |
