PURPOSE:To accurately and speedily generate indexes and improve the index generation efficiency by automatically retrieving a key word in a document on the document processing screen of a word processor, etc., by specifying the key word, and then generating the indexes. CONSTITUTION:The document processing screen 1 of the work processor, etc., is switched to an index screen 2 and a word or phrase as an index is specified; and then a retrieval processing part 7 automatically reads the generated document out of a document file 3, line by line to retrieve the specified word or phrase, generates and outputs an index to a document file 3, and also displays the result as the index on the index screen 2. When the document is corrected after the index is generated, a message showing that the index is not update yet is displayed on a screen for printing or the index screen 2 to warn a user. Respective words or phrases are retrieved by the retrieval processing part 7 by reading the document, line by line, and comparing it with the specified words or phrases. |
