Alkaline phosphatase to which is covalently bound a carbohydrate of the general formula wherein n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, A is an acyl radical containing 2 to 5 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 are each hydrogen atoms or hydroxyl groups, R3 is -COOH or -CH2OH, R4 is a hydroxyl group or a -CHOH-CHOH-CH2OH or -NH-CO-CH2-CH(NH2)-COOH radical or a complex containing the carbohydrate, is used as a standard for the determination of human alkaline phosphate. Preferred carbohydrates are ovomucoid, chitobiose, chitotriose or N-acetylglucosamine-N-acetylneuraminic acid.
