PURPOSE:To prevent power supply from tripping due to erroneous operation by comparing measured increasing rates of input voltage and current to an electric locomotive with preset values and lowering output of the electric locomotive when the voltage drops below a set value or when the current increase rate exceeds the preset value. CONSTITUTION:Voltage and current of power, taken in from a stringing 1 through a pantograph 2, are measured 3 and fed to a main circuit controller 4 and a detector 5. The main circuit controller 4 regulates voltage, current, and frequency and feeds thus regulated power to the motor for wheels 7 thus producing required hauling power and speed. An operator normally controls the operation through the detector 5 and a main controller 6. Allowable voltage drop and current increase rate are preset in the detector 5. When a locomotive travels through a section having power capacity lower than that on the ground side or when a plurality of locomotivis advances into a section, input voltage to the locomotive drops below a value set in the detector 5 and the current increase rate increases. Consequently, the main circuit controller 4 lowers output of the motor automatically thus preventing the power supply from being tripped due to erroneous operation of the operator. |
