PURPOSE:To retrieve a person's name fast through easy operation by providing a means which retrieves a coincidence with a corresponding part of an index word of a person's name KANJI (Chinese character) dictionary by using the starting part of pronunciation characters of the person's name. CONSTITUTION:A KANA (Japanese syllabary) input character string which is inputted from a character input means 11 is stored as a pronunciation character string in a pronunciation character string buffer 14 and when a person's name retrieval start indication is inputted, a person's name retrieving means 15 takes only one starting character of the pronunciation character string out of the pronunciation character buffer 14 and stores it in a pronunciation character buffer 16 for retrieval. Then, the person's name retrieving means 15 retrieves the coincidence between the one character for retrieval stored in the one pronunciation character buffer 16 for retrieval and one starting character of the index word of the person's name KANJI dictionary 20, takes out the person's name KANJI whose one index word starting character matches the one character for retrieval as a candidate word, and stores it in a candidate word stack 17. Then, the candidate word is displayed on a display device 21 and one specific person's name is specified through a decision indicating means 13. |
