PURPOSE:To provide a compact high-speed three-dimensional image display device with small-scale structure at low cost by adding a depth value (z) buffer of background image display information to the frame buffer of a three- dimensional animation as a three-dimensional image high speed display means, and using this to represent the background of the animation and the longitudinal display target of a sprite. CONSTITUTION:The color value and z-value of a background image are held in a frame buffer 501 and a z-value buffer 502, respectively, and the color value and z-value of a sprite in a memory 503 and a memory 504, respectively. The value of a sprite starting position displayed on a CRT 508 is set in a resistor 505. The z-value 510 of the background image and the z-value 511 of the sprite are compared to each other by a comparator 512, the AND operation of a comparison result 503 and an area judging result 508 is performed in an AND circuit 521. By using the result as a selection signal 514, either the color information 515 on the background image or the color information 516 on the sprite is selected by a selector 520 and transmitted to the CRT 518 through a digital analog converter 517. |
