The invention relates to a controller for rotary blood pumps, such as are used primarily for assisting the heart, in heart/lung machines and in blood-purifying appliances, the pump being connected to the patient's circulation. The special arrangement of the controller, which chiefly comprises a combination of a bistable element 6 with an integrator 8, achieves a control characteristic which takes into account the pulsation of the body's own heart and at the same time avoids unnecessary load on the blood and on the pump due to rapid fluctuations in rotational speed. Furthermore, if the integration time constant is selected appropriately, a pulsating mode synchronous with the heart can be achieved. <IMAGE> |
