PURPOSE:To enhance the wear resistance of a ceramic product produced with alumina powder. CONSTITUTION:Fine particles of the acidic oxide of a titanium family element having <=0.1mum particle diameter, e.g. a colloid sol of zirconia or titania is added to alumina powder by <=3wt.%, e.g. 0.5wt.%. They are mixed, kneaded with an org. excipient such as wax and sintered. |
