PURPOSE:To provide an air bag device for an assistant driver's seat which can open a lid very quickly. CONSTITUTION:A hinge 64 having a hinge shaft 60 and a hinge plate 62 is provided on a backup plate 22 located behind a lid 14. A tongue-like piece 66 fixed to the upper surface of a lid mount bracket 28 extends forward and the hinge plate 62 is fixed to the tongue-lie piece 66 by bolts. The upper edge of the lid 14 is an extended part 14a extending upward above the lid mount bracket 28 and the edge part 68 of the air bag device 10A installation window 52 of an instrument panel 50 is located behind the extended part 14a. This constitution allows the lid to make an easy rotational motion when an inflator is activated to open the lid forward. As a result, the air bag is inflated quickly into the vehicle room. |
