PURPOSE:To provide the flame-retardant nep-containing paper-like article having flame retardancy without deteriorating the safety of the nep-containing paper- like article and suitable as shoji (paper screen for Japanese room) paper, etc., by binding silk short fibers with synthetic fibers. CONSTITUTION:The flame-retardant nep-containing paper-like article is characterized by coating sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate on a nep-containing paper-like article, which is produced by interlacing nep-having silk short fibers with low melting point synthetic fibers and subsequently fusing at least a part of the interlaced product by the melting of the low melting point synthetic fibers, and the method for the production is characterized by blending the nep- having silk short fibers with the low melting point synthetic fibers, curding the blended product, subjecting the produced web-like material to a thermally fusing processing, and subsequently applying sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate to the treated web-like material. |
