PURPOSE:To efficiently produce an aspartylphenylalanine polymer by using a bacterium. CONSTITUTION:A DNA fragment encoding an aspartylphenylalanine polymer is inserted into the midst of a prochymosin gene controlled by trp promoter on a plasmid, Escherichia coli JM109 strain is transduced with the plasmid and the aspartylphenylalanine polymer is produced as a fused peptide with part of prochymosin.
