摘要 |
PURPOSE:To easily produce benzoic acid in high yield on an industrial scale at a low cost, by directly oxidizing a benzene compound with CO and O2 in the presence of a specific palladium catalyst. CONSTITUTION:CO and O2 are made to contact with a benzene compound in the presence of a palladium-supporting carbon catalyst at 50-300 deg.C under 0-50kg/cm<2>G pressure for 0.5-30hr to effect the oxidization of the benzene compound to obtain benzoic acid. The palladium-supporting carbon catalyst is a solid catalyst containing one or more palladium components supported on a carbon carrier and the amount of supported palladium component is 0.5-20wt% in terms of palladium metal. Preferably, the catalyst is a palladium- supporting amorphous carbon produced e.g. from a palladium halide and a porous amorphous carbon. |
