PURPOSE:To enhance Mn removing effect by a method wherein the water to be treated in an ozone contact tower is sampled to measure the optical characteristics of the sampled water to determine the injection amount of ozone and the concn. of Mn(V11) is preset to optically detect the reddish pink color of Mn(V11) and the detected value is compared with a set value to control the injection amount of ozone. CONSTITUTION:The sampled water 6 from the water to be treated in an ozone contact tower 2 is taken out to be sent to an optical device having a flow cell and the absorbancy or transmissivity of the water 6 is measured at a wavelength of 540nm. This measured result is inputted to a personal computer 9 and a predetermined calibration curve is used to determine the concn. of ozone. This concn. is compared with preset initial concn. and, in a case higher than the measured value, the personal computer 9 operates an inverter 10 to lower the supply amount of ozone. When ozone is insufficient in the opposite case, the supply amount of ozone is increased. When the concn. of Mn(II) is low, reduction and filtering are performed in an activated carbon adsorbing tower 4. |
