<p>A method of separating wax from a wax bearing mineral oil comprising mixing the mineral oil with an aromatic-ketone dewaxing solvent, mixing a liquid refrigerant with the oil-solvent mixture at an initial pressure at least sufficient to maintain the refrigerant in liquid phase, and reducing the pressure on the oil-solvent-refrigerant mixture from the initial pressure to a final pressure effecting vaporization of the refrigerant and concomitant cooling of the oil-solvent mixture to a dewaxing temperature so as to cause crystallization of at least a portion of the wax the pressure being reduced at a rate such that the cooling rate of the oil-solvent mixture is maintained 1 to 30 degrees F per minute.</p> |
