Measuring water in oil - comparing bubble rates in heated specimen and reference oils
摘要
The method involves heating equal quantities of a specimen oil and of a comparison oil with known water content at equal rates and adjacent to each other. The water content of the specimen oil is estimated by comparing the intensities of the bubbles in the two quantities of oil caused by the evaporating water. The heating of the specimen oil and comparison oil is preferably conducted on drops. For testing heating oil the oil is diluted with detergent. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for investigating mineral, lubricating eg engine oils. Simple method enables estimation of water content of oil with no requirement for chemical techniques.
