The staple is supplied from a magazine and attached so that the free ends can be returned to the original position. After the device is returned to the original position the article is aligned and the free ends of the arrow-like tips of the staple expand parallel to the surface of the card to connect it to the article. The distance from the surface and and side edges of the card (2) can be accurately adjusted through the translatory movement of the device (3). The lift and stroke of the needle head (4) are controllable. The recesses of the counter plate (5) can be adjusted in dia. and distance from each other.
