Solvent-loaded adsorbent regeneration - by three=stage reduced pressure desorption, allowing solvent recovery

In the generation of solvent-loaded adsorbents by heating to evaporate the solvent under reduced pressure, the novelty comprises (a) heating the loaded adsorbent to 100 deg.C under normal pressure and then reducing the pressure to 200 mbar to effect a first desorption phase; and (b) heating to 200 deg.C under normal pressure and effecting second and third desorption phases at 100 mbar and 10 mbar respectively. ADVANTAGE - The process provides quantitative recovery of solvent under moderate conditions and low energy regeneration of active carbon adsorbent, so that a large number of adsorption-desorption cycles can be used to ensure high efficiency.
