Determining the temp. rise during the heating of molten metal in a vessel inside a heating furnace consists of comparing the actual working parameters which exist during heating with those parameters measured during a previous heating process using a full holding vessel and calculating the temperature rise per unit time to enable the time required to heat to a predetermined temp. to be calculated. Calculating of the temp. rise is started once the initial temp. of the melt has been determined. At this point the heating by the furnace is started and the calculated heating rate used to determine the time required to reach the casting temperature. After this determined time the furnace heating is stopped. USE/ADVANTAGE - Heating melts to the required casting temperature. There is no need to monitor temperatures with traditional measuring devices e.g. measuring lances.
