Spinning frame - has a conveyor band at each side of the frame, with transfer facilities at each end

On a spinning machine, conveyor bands are arranged at each side along the working positions to supply tubes and remove cops. There is a transfer grip arrangement, so that the cops or tubes can be lifted from one of the conveyor bands, and placed on the other. The frame (1) has a series of spinning positions at each side. A conveyor band (9) moves in direction (A) at one side of the frame. If full cops (16) have been doffed automatically, they travel to the end (11) when the arm (26) lifts them one at a time on to the returning band (10) in direction (B). The arm (26) has a centre (27) to swivel (F,G) from one side to the other and back again. The movements are synchronised to the movements at the transfer end (12), where full cops are lifted to outward transport, and tubes set on the band (9). The drive for the arm (26) is by connection to a crank, driven by a motor which operates in steps. ADVANTAGE - There is a saving of space at the end of the frame, as the bands do not need to continue round.
