The trolley consists of a base (12) with a column (14) on which is pivoted (16) a lifting arm (18). The arm is raised and lowered by a power cylinder (26) connected at one end to the arm and at the other end to the column. To extend the range of lift the fixing point (28) of the cylinder to the column is made adjustable. The fixing point is on a nut which is driven up and down inside the column by rotation of a leadscrew having a handwheel at the top of the column. USE/ADVANTAGE - Hospital trolley whose lifting range can be simply extended. If power cylinder fails load can be safely lowered.
