Fuels for internal-combustion engines or lubricants containing small amounts of compounds of the formula Ia and/or Ib in which R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having a molecular weight (number average) of from 250 to 5000, and the radical X is the group, where the radicals R<1> may be identical or different and are hydrogen, C1-C10-alkyl, C1-C8-hydroxyalkyl or C1-C8-aminoalkyl, or in which the two radicals R<1> can form a non-aromatic ring.
