An optical signal transmission device includes: a plurality of laser diodes (1, 2) each having a different oscillating wavelength; a plurality of exclusive external modulators (3, 4) provided according to the number of the plurality of laser diodes for receiving corresponding outputs of the respective laser diodes, and for modulating output lights of the laser diodes by electrical signals; optical coupler means (5) for coupling the optical signal outputs of the external modulators together; and an optical amplifying unit (6) for amplifying the output optical signals of the optical coupler means, wherein the modulated optical outputs of the external modulators are delivered to an optical fibre transmission line in a time-series-mode. Such a device can suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering generated from the optical fibre in the transmission line, so as to permit a larger optical signal to be transmitted via the fibre. The electrical signals may be multiplexed, or may not be multiplexed. <IMAGE> |
