<p>A portable cable application tool (50) for fastening an individual cable tie (52) around an object (57) where the cable tie (52) has a strap (54) and a strap locking head and is provided in a continuous ribbon (51) of cable ties (52) includes upper and lower jaws (68,69) for positioning the cable tie (52) around an object (57) to be fastened. The tool (50) includes a cable advancing means (75) for advancing an individual cable tie within the tool having a carriage (106), a carriage mounting means for mounting the carriage to the tool for reciprocal movement between a rearward position and a forward position and cable tie pusher means (117) carried on the carriage for pushing a cable tie from a cable tie receiver means (74) to upper and lower jaws (68,69) of the tool. The carriage (106) includes insertion cam means disposed for engaging a linkage means (118) to pivot the upper jaw (68) and insert the cable tie (52) when the carriage (106) is advanced to the forward position whereby the movement of the carriage (106) effects the timed advancement of the cable tie (52) within the tool (50) and the timed insertion of the cable tie (52) through the locking head of the cable tie (52).</p> |
